Built in 2009, The Christine Rose is more than three times larger than any other gold dredge in the waters off of Nome, Alaska. Owner Steve Pomrenke, co-owner Shawn Pomrenke along with their deckhands Robbi Wade and Cody Moen are hoping to take a two million dollar haul this season.
Three teams of miners take on one of the most dangerous jobs in the world: diving under the ice to dredge for gold on the floor of the Bering Sea.
Shawn Pomrenke captains the team of the largest winter dredge, Shamrock, with his trusted summer season deckhand Cody as his second in command.
The crew of the Shamrock are seasoned ice miners, with the exception of one diver -- a carpenter who almost drowned diving once and must face his fears and his inexperience in the bitterly cold and claustrophobic environment. Shawn's goal is to prove to his father Steve Pomrenke, a dredging legend, that Shawn is ready and able to take over the family dredging business upon the summertime vessel Christine Rose.
The Clark's 's Zeke Tenhoff also converts his summertime operation into a much more difficult ice diving operation. Zeke's will is strong, but his inexperience and the inexperience of his friends Emily and Steve Riedel make the operation challenging.
#Meanwhile, another group of friends callling themselves The Lazy Gators may be the smallest and scrappiest of the dive teams, but their ingenuity, attitude, and a little luck have put them on pay dirt.
